After the success of the last films in the celebrated franchise, it seems like the makers of Jurassic are all set for another sequel, this time with the original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal Pictures, which had until now kept the development of the all-new Jurassic World movie under wraps, is now aiming for a 2025 release. As per the report, the film will have Koepp back at the keyboard. While the script is said to be in good shape, other details about the film, including its cast and director, are yet to be announced.
However, in a piece of good news, fans can expect the original director, i.e., Steven Spielberg, to be the executive producer with his Amblin Entertainment banner, followed by other Jurassic veterans like Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley.
About the new ‘Jurassic World’ movie
If reports are to be believed, makers are planning to launch an all-new Jurassic Era with a very different storyline. The possibilities of the return of Jurassic World stars like Chris Patt and Bryce Dallas Howard and even characters from the original Jurassic Park movies, played by Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, have been ruled out.
The fact that the film is being called a “new Jurassic World” suggests that the franchise might not take the traditional route but explore parts unknown about the gigantic reptiles that ruled the land for more than 100 million years.
Jurassic World 4 release
While the film’s release date is anticipated to be sometime in 2025, it could possibly hit theatres on the 10-year anniversary of 2015’s Jurassic World. Besides that, if the film has a late spring or early summer release, it could face competition from Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part Two.
Jurassic films so far
In a span of three decades, a total of six Jurassic films have been created. Undoubtedly, the franchise remains a key jewel in Universal’s film history. Beginning with the 1993 original film, it was followed by The Lost World (1997), Jurassic Park (III), Jurassic World (2015), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), and Jurassic World: Dominion (2022).
The franchise has so far grossed around $6 billion at the global box office, with the last film surpassing the $1 billion mark. The film concluded with humanity learning to co-exist with the dinosaurs, who have fully integrated into the wild.
With the new developments making the rounds, Jurassic fans will not have to wait long for more Jurassic World content.
