Mumbai: Popular Kebab Joint Bademiya Shut By FDA; Rats, Cockroaches Found in Kitchen
The owner of the restaurant, however, said that they have all the licences, except FSSAI, which is underway.

The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) officials on Wednesday shut down Bademiya, a popular South Mumbai eatery, after cockroaches and rats were found in the kitchen during raids.

A raid was carried out at the eatery by FDA officials after they received several hygiene-related complaints.

According to a India Today report, when the FDA officials looked deep into the papers of the eater, they found that it did not have licence under the the Food Safety & Standards Authority of India. The restaurant is 76 years old.

The kebab shop was was operating two branches, one in South Mumbai and the other in Bandra, despite having no papers.

“There is an ongoing raid and inspection (of FDA) across restaurants in Mumbai. Bademiya is one of the hotels that have been raided. This afternoon, the vigilance team and our local officer arrived here (Bademiya) and found that a cloud kitchen served meals for two of its adjoining branches. There was no license granted to the eatery and hygiene issues have also surfaced,” the FDA official were quoted as saying to India Today.

The owner of the restaurant, however, said that they have all the licences, except FSSAI, which is underway. The owner also mentioned that they are ready to fully comply with the authorities.
