Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi had one of the toughest phases of his life when his three-year-old son, Ayaan Hashmi, was diagnosed with cancer in 2014. After a long battle of five years, Ayaan recovered from cancer in 2019. During this period, Emraan took a major break from his acting career to take care of his son. Recently, the actor recalled advice that he received from Bollywood producer Mahesh Bhatt during the dark phase, which helped in balancing his career.

In an interview on Radio Nasha, Emraan discussed how his family navigated the difficult period during his son’s illness. While acknowledging the uncertainty they faced regarding the future, he also highlighted their resilience in persevering through all of it.

Further speaking about the challenges that he faced while trying to balance his professional and personal matters, he recalled a crucial piece of advice from the ace filmmaker.

Mahesh Bhatt gave this advice to Emraan Hashmi

In line with the realities of the film industry, Hashmi recalled the filmmaker emphasising the need for him to reach out to every producer that he was collaborating with and reassure them of his commitment to completing their projects.

Despite it being just two weeks into his son’s illness, Bhatt stressed the dual nature of industry support, stating, “While people empathise with you and offer assistance, they also have financial stakes invested in projects.”

Following Bhatt’s advice, the Tiger 3 actor not only informed producers about her commitment but also returned to India to fulfill his obligations. While Emraan’s son’s treatment went on for seven months in Canada, he went away for around a month and a half after lying to his son, telling him that he would return soon.

Earlier, Emraan also shared how he also received the support of actor Akshay Kumar after his son was diagnosed with cancer. Speaking during an event, the actor mentioned that Akshay was the first one to call and stood by his family during the difficult time.

On the work front

Last seen in the Salman Khan starrer Tiger 3, playing the role of the antagonist, Emraan has a couple of projects ahead. He will be next seen in Karan Johar’s web show ‘Showtime’, where he will portray the role of a film producer. Besides that, the actor is also set to mark his Telugu debut with Adivi Sesh’s ‘G2’, a sequel to ‘Goodachari’.
