As Kareena Kapoor Khan’s OTT debut Jaane Jaan releases on Thursday, September 21 on the actress’s 43rd birthday, she is leaving no stone unturned to promote the film. Kareena, who is married to actor Saif Ali Khan, recently spoke about what she learned from his acting process. She lauded Saif for his acting prowess and said that he is fabulous as an actor.
Kareena told Film Companion, “I think Saif is a fab actor. I don’t know how he does it, but he will travel to Rajasthan for four months to shoot Laal Kaptaan. That’s because he wants to do it. Because he has loved watching those kind of movies. So he’s like, ‘I want to play a Naga Sadhu.'”
She added, “Who really thinks that? He just has these characters and weird thoughts which I think, has helped him position himself as one of the finest artists. He’s considered – I would say – an artist because of the choices he makes, and I think I’ve learned that from him.”
Interestingly, Jaane Jaan was first offered to Saif in 2015 who couldn’t do the film due to other commitments. Now, years later, it is a milestone project in Kareena’s repertoire. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, the film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma in prominent roles.
The mystery thriller is an adaptation of the Japanese novel The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino. In the film, Kareena essays the role of Maya D’Souza, a single mother who becomes the prime suspect after her abusive husband goes missing. Jaideep plays her neighbour who is somewhat aware of her situation and is seemingly infatuated by her. Vijay plays the cop who leads the investigation and is also an old friend of Jaideep’s character.
Kareena will next be seen in The Buckingham Murders, directed by Hansal Mehta. She is also shooting for The Crew with Tabu and Kriti Sanon.
