The much awaited trailer for Zendaya’s upcoming film Challengers is out, and fans are eager for its premiere in April. The film was originally set to premiere at the renowned Venice Film Festival in August 2023. But the release of Challengers was pushed to 2024 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. While the delay disappointed fans, the new trailer promises that the film will surely be worth the wait. The recently released trailer gives audiences a sneak peek into the film’s plot, enticing them with glimpses of the unique interaction shared by leads both in their past and present lives.

The trailer follows the life of Tashi Duncan, played by Zendaya, an incredibly promising tennis prodigy whose career is abruptly cut short by a tragic injury. Since she can no longer play, Tashi transitions into coaching. Tashi marries Grand Slam champion Art, played by Tommy Faist. In order to break his record of losses, Tashi enrols him in a challenger tournament.

Patrick (played by Austin Butler), who is Art’s former best friend and Tashi’s ex-boyfriend, is also present, setting the premise for a dramatic clash. As the trio’s life intervenes and tension increases on and off the court, the film aims to provide a thrilling experience that will keep the audience on the edge of their seats.

The film’s first trailer, published in June 2023, made a lot of buzz for its Rihanna soundtrack and riveting chemistry among the three actors. The second trailer adds to the anticipation as the film prepares for its much awaited release this year. A poster of the film along with the release date was unveiled by Zendaya some time ago.

Zendaya, Tommy Faist, and Austin Butler are all set to fascinate audiences with their forthcoming film, Challengers, which will be released on April 26. The sports drama is directed by Celine Song and written by Justin Kuritzkes, and provides a tantalising insight into the complicated relationships among its main characters. Luca Guadagnino and Zendaya, together with Rachel O’Connor and Amy Pascal, have produced the film.

Earlier in an interview with Variety, producer Guadagnino stated that Zendaya trained for three months with a pro tennis coach. The producer stated, “She’s wonderful. I mean, wow. We edited the movie and we almost actually don’t use any of her doubles. She’s so good." Additionally, former tennis player Brad Gilbert served as a consultant on the film.
