'Bowlers Who Can Take Wickets in Batter-friendly Pitches a Huge Asset': Proteas Legend Rates India as Best Bowling Attack
When Graeme Smith was asked about the best bowling attack across all teams in the World Cup he replied - India.

Legendary South Africa skipper Graeme Smith has termed India as the best bowling attack in the ongoing ODI World Cup. India are enjoying a dominant run in the World Cup with six wins in a row as they are the only side with an unbeaten record in the tournament thus far. The Indian bowlers have been in some terrific form as they have bowled out five teams in six matches with Jasprit Bumrah being the leader of the attack.

The bowlers are performing collectively well for the side as everyone has contributed to the team’s success in the mega tournament.

On Sunday, India defended a below-par 230-run target against defending champions England and claimed an emphatic 100-run win to reclaim the top spot in the points table.

When Smith was asked about the best bowling attack across all teams in the World Cup he replied – India.

“India, I think, because they have got two high-quality spinners. With (Jasprit) Bumrah, (Mohammed) Shami and (Mohammed) Siraj, they have got pace bowlers who are brilliant as well,” Smith told PTI.

Smith suggested that India have an attack which can take wickets on batter-friendly or high-scoring pitches too.

“You have got out-and-out attacking bowlers everywhere they can take wickets throughout the innings. The depth, when we talk about pitches being batter-friendly and high-scoring, and to have bowlers who can take wickets, is a huge asset to have,” Smith added.

Chasing a tricky 230 for victory in Lucknow, England collapsed to 129 all out in 34.5 overs to suffer their fifth defeat in six matches and leave their title defence at the mercy of a mathematical miracle.

Shami returned figures of 4-22 while fellow quick Bumrah took three wickets to wrap up the match as fireworks lit up the sky.

Despite playing with five-bowling options India have done well in the last two matches by bowling out teams like New Zealand and England.
