Bigg Boss 15 fame Abdu Rozik was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection to a money laundering case. As reported by NDTV, Abdu visited the ED office in Mumbai on Tuesday when he recorded his statement. More details about his probe are still awaited.
Reportedly, Abdu Rozik is a witness in the case which also involves his Bigg Boss 16 co-contestant Shiv Thakare. Earlier this month, Free Press Journal reported that the case is linked to alleged drug lord Ali Asghar Shirazi. Reportedly, Asghar’s Hustlers’ Hospitality Pvt Ltd. financed several startups including that of Shiv Thakare’s ‘Thakare Chai and Snacks’ and Abdu Rozik’s ‘Burgiir’ in Mumbai. Shirazi is said to have invested money, he made through narco-fundinging, in these food chains. However, when Shiv and Abdu got to know about Ali Asghar Shirazi’s alleged involvement in the narco business, they terminated their contracts.
Last week, Shiv Thakare was also questioned by the agency in connection to the case. Reportedly, during his interrogation, Shiv told ED officials that he met the director of Hustlers Hospitality – Krunal Ojha, through somebody in 2022. It was after his meeting that Krunal offered him a partnership deal for the Thakare Chai and Snacks.
Abdu Rozik and Shiv Thakare met for the first time inside the Bigg Boss 16 house when they developed a close bond with one another. Their friendship became one of the highlights of the show. The two were also friends with Sajid Khan, MC Stan, Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia and Sumbul Touqeer. The group was called ‘mandali’ and their friendships stayed connected even after the show.
After Bigg Boss 16, Abdu and Shiv were also seen in Rohit Shetty’s Khatron Ke Khiladi wherein Rozik was a guest contestant on the show. He was seen acing a few stunts while he rooted for his friend Shiv Thakare in the show then. The two had a fun banter in Cape Town, South Africa, several videos of which also went viral on social media.
