26/11 Attacks Case: Mumbai Police Submits 405-Page Chargesheet Against Businessman Tahawwur Rana
The Mumbai police's crime branch submitted the fourth chargesheet in the case to the court's registry on Monday. Following the verification process, the document is expected to be presented before a special court on Tuesday, according to a government lawyer.

The Mumbai Police’s crime branch has filed a 405-page supplementary chargesheet against Tahawwur Rana in the 26/11 Mumbai bomb blast case. This marks the fifth chargesheet in this case, providing details about his connections with the mastermind of the blast, David Coleman Headley.

Rana is listed as the fifth accused in the chargesheet.

According to the chargesheet, Rana was in India between November 11 to 21, 2008, and in Mumbai on November 20-21. During his time in India, he met with David Coleman Headley and conspired with him in relation to the attacks.

Sources suggest Headley was the mastermind while Rana acted as the financier for 26/11. Rana assisted Headley in establishing an office in Tardeo ahead of the attacks.

The two maintained communication via email, with Headley providing information about the locations in Mumbai where he had conducted reconnaissance to Rana. Headley sent approximately 15 to 20 emails to Rana.

The chargesheet also notes that David Headley and Rana were childhood friends. The police have inferred that Rana had knowledge of the plans due to their communication.

It is further mentioned in the chargesheet that Rana traveled from Mumbai to Dubai just four days prior to the Mumbai attacks. According to the chargesheet, Rana stayed in a hotel in Powai on November 20 and 21. The police have included all evidence of Rana’s stay in the hotel in the chargesheet.

The chargesheet contains statements from more than 15 individuals and documents related to Rana’s visit to Mumbai.

Rana stayed in Mumbai for two days and also visited Delhi, Rajasthan, and Ahmedabad.

Additionally, the chargesheet highlights that Rana resided in Canada, Pakistan, Germany, and England and frequently travelled between these countries.

Charges have been filed against Rana under the UAPA Act, IPC, Explosives, and Destruction of Public Property Act.

Previously, chargesheets have been filed against Ajmal Aamir Kasab, Abu Jindal, Sabahuddin Shaikh, and Faheem Ansari.

Earlier, chargesheets identified Hadley as the mastermind behind the blasts.

Rana is a Canadian citizen, currently incarcerated in the US for his involvement in the murder of a journalist. He subsequently obtained Canadian citizenship.

Rana is known to be an operative for ISIS and Lashkar-e-Taiba, having worked as a doctor in the Pakistani Army. He received his education from Pakistan Army Medical College and continued to serve as a doctor in the Pakistani Army for over 10 years.

Sources suggest that efforts are underway to repatriate him soon.
