Writer Kurt Johnstad Spills The Beans On Rebel Moon: The Scargiver's Ending
In the sequel Rebel Moon—Part Two: The Scargiver, Cora and her ragtag group of outcasts are tasked with protecting Veldt, a farming community, from the Imperium.

A new film directed by Zach Snyder is available on Netflix, in which the antagonistic Empire is vanquished at the end of the two-part space epic Rebel Moon. At least for a little while. Even though Cora and the other heroes have successfully protected Veldt’s moon from Admiral Noble and his Dreadnaught, the Imperium remains, most likely prepared to retaliate. It seemed more like the heart of a continuing narrative, with a lot of groundwork laid for what was to come. In an attempt to clear up any lingering ambiguity, screenwriter Kurt Johnstad explained The Scargiver’s conclusion and future intentions.

Spoilers Alert!

Despite the lack of excitement that Rebel Moon—Part One: A Child of Fire left critics and fans still fascinated and looking forward to the sequel. In the sequel Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, Cora and her ragtag group of outcasts are tasked with protecting Veldt, a farming community, from the Imperium.

At the end of The Scargiver, Cora and the other heroes who are still alive get together to pay tribute to the people who lost their lives in the battle. They learn that Princess Issa, whom Cora killed in her previous life despite being expected to bring peace to the galaxy, was, in fact, still alive. They all make the decision to stick together and go on fighting the evil power they haven’t yet vanquished.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Johnstad stated that the purpose of the conclusion was to resolve a dispute with Noble and showcase an amazing set piece aboard the Dreadnaught. In addition, they sought to chart a path for the princess, raising concerns about the heroes’ future journey and Cora’s relationship with the princess.

Regarding future plans, Johnstad said that he, Zack and co-writer Shay Hatten already know what the following story elements are if they are successful. They have created a comprehensive timeline of mythology and history that is included in scripts, and they have plans for several additional films. He did not, however, intend to assign a precise number to it.

Snyder has already disclosed that he intended to take a very different approach with his director’s cuts of the first two films. The first two Rebel Moon films are now available on Netflix. The streamer plans to broadcast longer versions of both films this year.
