Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan’s 2018 hit film ’96’ remains a fan-favorite, beloved for its emotional depth, stunning visuals, and enchanting background score. Recently, the film’s director, C Prem Kumar, hinted at the possibility of a sequel, sharing exciting updates about ’96 Part 2′.

In an interview with a Tamil YouTube channel, Prem Kumar revealed that the storyline and script for the sequel have been in development for some time. Initially hesitant to continue the story, the filmmaker has since changed his mind. “I am excited to work on ’96 Part 2′. Initially, I wasn’t keen on making a sequel to ’96’, but things have evolved. I have finished writing the script for ’96 Part 2′. I have only a few portions left to write,” he explained.

Regarding the cast, Prem Kumar shared that he has already discussed the script with Vijay Sethupathi’s wife, who responded positively to the idea. However, he’s still waiting for both Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan to confirm their availability. “I shared the storyline with Vijay Sethupathi’s wife, and she liked it. Let’s see what the future has in store; I have to see if Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha can allocate their dates as well,” he added.

For those unfamiliar, ’96’ was released in October 2018, striking a deep emotional chord with its audience. The film centers around Ram (played by Vijay Sethupathi) and Janu (played by Trisha Krishnan), two former schoolmates who reconnect after 22 years. Their reunion stirs up nostalgic and unspoken emotions, driving the narrative with a sense of unrequited love and deep care for one another.

On the career front, Vijay Sethupathi is making waves as he steps in as the host of ‘Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8’, replacing Kamal Haasan.
