Actress Vidya Balan has left netizens surprised with her drastic physical transformation. The actress, who has been vocal about her battle with body shaming, stunned the internet after she made a red carpet appearance in a gorgeous black dress at the premiere of Kartik Aaryan starrer Chandu Champion in Mumbai on Thursday.

The actress also posed with her sister’s son at the premiere, and even jokingly told paparazzi, “ab ye mat kehna ye mera beta hai. Meri behen ka beta hai (Now don’t say that he is my son; he is my sister’s son).” Vidya’s video was flooded by positive comments, with fans praising her for her incredible transformation.

One user wrote, “Vidya is so fit.” Another one commented, “What did she do? She looks very young.” “You’re looking so beautiful, Vidya,” a third comment read.

Talking about her experiences with body shaming, Vidya, in an interaction with Indian Express, revealed that producers would ask her to lose weight before starting any new film.

Vidya said, “Before every film, I would get asked by the producers and directors if I could shed some weight. And I have been going through some health challenges for a long long time. So it was next to impossible.”

She continued, “Finally four to five years ago, when the director said this to me, I said, ‘Please, I am not going to be the body you need me to be. You need to go to the body you need.’ I find this absolutely ridiculous. Because the part was written with me in mind. So why this insistence? What is this obsession with only thin being desirable and acceptable?”

Vidya said that she tried to lose weight on several occasions, but eventually, decided to accept her body the way it was. “Not like I wasn’t trying to shed weight. Growing up I wanted to be thin. I began to love and accept myself. It has been a very important journey,” she said.
