Veteran actress Helen recently left the internet inspired by her latest move. She took up pilates at the age of 85. In a viral video, Helen also shared how the practice boosted her energy while also highlighting its advantages for pain for vitality and pain relief. Presently, she walks unassisted and attributes the ability to her regular pilates routine.
In a recent viral video on Instagram, the legendary dancer explained that she has been feeling energetic, alive, and happy ever since beginning pilates under the guidance of trainer Yasmin Karachiwala. The clip shows Helen telling the trainer, “I am feeling so energetic, so alive, so happy, and look forward to this every day. I feel so good. It gives me a high. I don’t have to drink or smoke to get a high. I get high out of pilates. I love coming here. I thank all the instructors and my special instructor, Bimal. I am 85. I am doing it.”

Further, the veteran star recalled using a walking cane due to knee problems. However, her condition has now significantly improved and she is likely to resume dancing again. Karachiwala also acknowledged Helen’s newly found love for pilates.
The veteran actress continued that pilates gives her a natural high, eliminating the need for drinking and smoking. She even thanked her instructors, especially Bimal, for helping her through the practice.
Helen also revealed that Karachiwala consistently urged her to practice pilates daily but she kept postponing. Feeling guilty about repeatedly avoiding the practice, she finally decided to embark on the fitness journey promising the fitness trainer that she would never miss another pilates class.
Helen’s influence on Indian cinema can be traced back to the 1960s and 1970s when she became a sensation with her role in the 1958 classic Howrah Bridge. Featured in more than 600 films, her notable films include Gumnaam, Kaajal, Jewel Thief, Yakeen, The Train and Caravan.
