Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan made a startling confession about Aditya Chopra. At the trailer launch of Citadel: Honey Bunny, his upcoming action series, Varun revealed he pursued the Yash Raj Films head to make an action film with him or other younger actors but the producer was not ready to take the risk. Varun revealed that the conversation took place during the making of Tiger and expressed his gratitude towards Raj & DK, and Atlee for recognising his action talent.
“The reason I am saying (that the South Indian film industry is recognising his worth) is that during lockdown, I remember I met Aditya Chopra. He and Maneesh (Sharma) were making Tiger 3 (starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif) at the time. I asked him, ‘Sir, why don’t you make an action film with younger talent.’ I kept pursuing him," Varun revealed.
“He said, ‘Listen, I can’t do that because I give you that budget right now. You’re not at that place where I can give you such a big budget. I texted him and asked him what is the budget. He gave me a figure that and said this is the budget to make something big in action," Varun recalled.
Eventually, when the opportunity to star in Citadel: Honey Bunny came to his doorstep, one of the first questions Varun asked the team was the budget. “I remember when this opportunity came, I even asked Raj & DK and Amazon about the budget because I am getting this knowledge from Aditya Chopra (about the budget). I am really grateful to Raj & DK and Amazon for giving me this opportunity," Varun said.
