Tamil Actor Jagan Lashes Out At Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 Makers: 'My Name Was Excluded From Credits'

Tamil actor Jagan, widely recognized for his numerous roles over the years, has recently criticized the makers of ‘Indian 2’ starring Kamal Haasan. In an interview with Behindwoods, Jagan expressed his frustration at not being credited in the film.

The actor expressed his disappointment, saying, “Ulaganayakan Kamal Haasan, Siddharth, Rakul Preet, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and Vivek but my name was not mentioned at all. I thought I was playing a key role but I’m not even included in their promotions.”

Delving deeper into the issue, Jagan questioned why Kamal Haasan didn’t use his influence as the lead to ensure his inclusion in the promotions. Furthermore, Jagan disclosed that the filmmakers initially had two actors in mind for his role, but he was ultimately chosen after the late KV Anand advocated for him to director Shankar.

Jagan shared that director KV Anand spoke to Shankar for about 30 minutes on his behalf, leading to the call he received from the ‘Indian 2’ team. Interestingly, KV Anand never mentioned to Jagan that he had put in a good word for him.

The actor also reflected on his longstanding recognition for his supporting role in ‘Ayan.’ For those unfamiliar, the 2009 film, which starred Suriya, marked Jagan’s significant role and was the second directorial venture of KV Anand.

‘Ayan’ tells the story of Deva, a smuggler seeking revenge against an underworld don responsible for his best friend’s death. The blockbuster hit featured an ensemble cast including Prabhu, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Akashdeep Saighal, among others.

‘Indian 2,’ featuring Kamal Haasan in the lead role, is the highly anticipated sequel to the cult classic 1996 film ‘Indian,’ directed by S Shankar. The original movie follows the story of Senapathy, a veteran freedom fighter turned vigilante who eradicates corruption.

Scheduled for release on July 12, 2024, ‘Indian 2’ boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simha, Vivek, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and many more in pivotal roles.
