Gurucharan Singh, widely recognized for playing Roshan Singh Sodhi in the popular sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah,’ has reportedly disappeared. This development has left his fans and fellow actors in dismay, as he is immensely adored in the Indian television landscape.
The actor was last spotted at the Delhi airport on April 22, where he was scheduled to catch a flight to Mumbai. However, he never made it to Mumbai and has not returned home since.
His disappearance has sparked significant worry, especially since he is 50 years old and known to be mentally stable. Attempts to contact him via his phone have failed.
A missing report submitted by Singh’s father stated: “My son Gurucharan Singh, Age: 50 years, had left at 8:30 am on April 22nd to go to Mumbai. He went to the airport to catch a flight. He didn’t reach Mumbai, neither has he returned home and his phone is not reachable. He is mentally stable and we had been searching for him but now he has been missing!”
Gurcharan Singh played the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi — a fun-loving man who is always in a party mode and never shies away from expressing love for his wife. He was one of the popular characters on the show, and also a founding cast member. Gurcharan, however, left the show in 2013 only to return next year due to public demand. After his exit in 2020, he was replaced by actor Balwinder Singh Suri.
Back in 2021, Singh had opened up about why he quit the show and whether he had any plans to make a comeback. “Well, my Dad had undergone surgery around the time I quit the show. There were a few other things I had to address and life went on,” Singh told ET Times.
There were speculations that Gurucharan Singh exited the show due to delays in his payment, however, the actor had remainex tight-lipped on the issue. “Hum pyaar mohabbat se aage badhna pasand karna chahte hain (I want to move forward with love and respect.). There are some other reasons I don’t want to talk about.”
When asked if he planned on returning to the show, Singh had said, “God knows, I don’t know. Agar rab ki marzi hogi toh (If God wishes) I will return. But nothing as such for now. Last time too, I hadn’t expected or planned, it just happened.”
The news of Gurucharan Singh’s sudden vanishing has stirred the television industry and its audiences, causing widespread concern and hope for his secure return.
