In a surprising turn of events, Sidharth Malhotra has reportedly made a sudden exit from Balwinder Singh Janjua’s upcoming film Mitti, just one month before the shoot was scheduled to commence. The news has gone viral. However, an official was never made for the film. Peeping Moon has reported creative differences as the reason.
Peeping Moon in its report mentions the reasons for his departure remain unclear, citing both creative differences with the director and concerns about the script itself. Other sources suggest Malhotra simply wasn’t convinced by the project’s direction, others claim his decision may have been influenced by a desire for more creative control on set. There’s also speculation that the actor’s recent box office struggles may have played a role, potentially making it difficult to secure funding for the film.
Bollywood Hungama earlier reported that Mitti is an action film being shot in Uttarakhand. Not willing to speak much on the project, Janjua said, “It is an action drama set in Uttarakhand. It is a story about guilt, about living with the baggage of guilt. It is the story of saving your home and your zameen, your mitti. It is about family and relationships.”
It was recently reported that Sidharth Malhotra has opted out of a Meghna Gulzar movie which wanted him to portray a “tough man in uniform”.
Bollywood Hungama also mentioned that rumors are rife that Sidharth might be attached to an upcoming romantic comedy produced by Dinesh Vijan and directed by Dasvi filmmaker Tushar Jalota. The yet-untitled film is expected to be a light-hearted and commercially viable project, a stark contrast to the action drama Malhotra recently departed. While the casting of the female lead hasn’t been officially confirmed, reports suggest that Janhvi Kapoor is in talks for the role.
Meanwhile, Sidharth Malhotra is also in talks with the makers of Race 4 to join Saif Ali Khan in the new installment.
Besides this, rumours are rife that Sidharth will soon be reuniting on screen with his actress-wife Kiara Advani for a romantic comedy. The film will mark which will mark their first movie together since their wedding in February 2023.
