Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 2 has been breaking all records and creating new records. The film also stars Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurrana and Pankaj Tripathi. Well, recently Shah Rukh Khan, who was present at the press conference of IIFA awards 2024, praised Abhishek Banerjee for his performance. He played the role of Jana.
While addressing the press on stage, Shah Rukh Khan said, “Abhishek, it is so wonderful to see you after seeing your wonderful film (Stree 2). I have been wanting to call you.” Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao has now broken the record of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan to become the second highest-grossing Hindi film in India, according to Sacnilk. Pathaan, which came out last year, starred Shah Rukh Khan.
Stree 2 hasn’t faced any competition at the box office for weeks. Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency, her directorial debut, was delayed from its September 6 release because of certification issues. But starting Friday, September 13, Stree 2 will face new competition from Hansal Mehta’s thriller The Buckingham Murders, starring Kareena Kapoor.
Stree 2 hit theatres on August 15 and impressed audiences. Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 sees Rajkummar and Shraddha reprise their roles from the original. The sequel continues the eerie tale in the town of Chanderi, now haunted by a new terror, Sarkata. The townspeople once again turn to Stree for salvation. The film also features several surprise cameos, including Varun Dhawan as Bhediya, who shares a special song with Shraddha Kapoor.
Stree 2 clashed at the box office with Akshay Kumar and Taapsee Pannu’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa. Despite this, Stree 2 managed to gather audience’s attention. Produced by Maddock Films, the film has turned into an all-time blockbuster. Stree 2 has earned over Rs 500 crore at the Indian box office as of now.
On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan is currently shooting for his next film King. The details are not shared till now.
