KKR emerged victorious in the IPL, securing their third trophy. They battled it out with Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday and claimed the championship.
IT ALL STARTED WITH PATHAAN: When Shah Rukh Khan made a comeback in 2023 with Pathaan, he left everyone completely impressed. After a four-year break, Shah Rukh Khan made a spectacular return to the big screen with three major hits: Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. His powerful comeback proved his supremacy at the box office. Following the success of these blockbusters in 2023, Shah Rukh Khan was honored with the Indian of the Year Award at the CNN News 18 Indian Of The Year 2023 Awards. at the Indian of the Year, he said, “We wanted to come out for Jawan, Pathaan, and just be supportive of what you do as an actor’. I think this is way beyond the films. Pathaan is fantastic, Jawan is lovely, and Dunki is beautiful. It is not a comeback; it is the reiteration of the fact that I belong and that I should continue to act.”
JAWAN FEVER: After that, he made his second appearance of the year with Jawan. The film is directed by Atlee and features Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles. The new avatar of SRK has been highly appreciated by the audience. The film is still going strong and has earned over Rs 1,100 crore worldwide and it refuses to slow down. Post this, Dunki fever gripped the box office.
SUPPORTING KKR: SRK-led KKR continued their excellent run in IPL 2024 after finishing the league stage at the top of the standings. The Shreyas Iyer-led side defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the first qualifier of the season to make their way into the title clash. In a post-match video shared by KKR on their social media accounts, Venkatesh, who scored a quick half-century against SRH, said, “It speaks volumes of the man he (SRK) is. We have all seen him on the screen, mesmerising people with his aura, not just be an owner of the franchise but an elder brother figure for us, to guide us constantly.” Shreyas Iyer had also praised him for motivating the team. “His presence itself gets that zest in the team environment. The attitude and approach automatically changes. It’s the perception over here (points to head),” he said.
THE FINALE: Right before the finale, Shah Rukh was hospitalised for heat stroke and dehydration. But he made a comeback and how! He was in the stands for the finale, cheering his team on. As KKR won by 8 wickets, SRK was ecstatic. He hugged and kissed Gauri and shook hands with everyone in the VVIP box. Removing his mask, he put on his sunglasses in celebration.
The Kolkata franchise dominated the IPL 2024 season without a doubt. With 9 wins, 3 losses, and 1 no-result, KKR showed remarkable consistency throughout the group stage, excelling in both batting and bowling. Their strong performance continued into the playoffs, with a commanding 8-wicket victory over SRH and a repeat performance in the final.
