Recently, Disney+ delighted K-drama enthusiasts by offering a sneak peek at the upcoming dramas set to premiere on the streaming platform throughout the rest of 2024 and into 2025.
On September 12, Disney+Korea shared a video on its social media platforms revealing the lineup of its upcoming dramas. Apart from the recently released comedy-drama Seoul Busters, which premiered on the streaming platform on September 11, Disney+ plans to release two more dramas in 2024. One is the crime drama Gangnam B-Side, and the other is Light Shop.
Seoul Busters is a comedy series starring Kim Dong-wook, Park Ji-hwan, Seo Hyun-woo, Park Se-wan and Lee Seung-woo. The plot revolves around the country’s lowest-ranking violent crimes unit, which transforms into the nation’s top team once an elite leader joins them. Meanwhile, Ji Chang-wook and Jo Woo-jin’s crime drama Gangnam B-side will follow the life of a demoted detective who will team up with a prosecutor and a mysterious broker to uncover the truth.
On the other hand, Light Shop, an adaptation of Kang Full’s Webtoon Moving, will depict the stories of the living and the dead, whose paths cross through a mysterious lamp shop. The drama boasts a star-studded cast that includes Park Bo-young, Joo Ji-hoon, Bae Sung-woo and many more.
In 2025, Disney+ Korea will have an interesting line-up of dramas based on various genres, ranging from rom-com to crime thrillers. Up first is Trigger, starring Kim Hye-soo. It is set against the backdrop of Korea’s first Investigative Journalism Bureau of a broadcasting company. As per reports, the actress has been offered the role of the bureau’s leader, who has a strong sense of justice.
The next K-drama is Hyper Knife, a medical crime thriller about a battle between two doctors. It stars Park Eun-bin, Sol Kyung-gu, Yoon Chan-young, and Park Byung-eun in the main roles. Another drama to release in 2025 is Knock Off, starring Kim Soo-Hyun and Jo Bo-ah, which will tell the tale of a guy whose life would change after the 1997 Asian financial crisis. He would go from being a regular office worker to becoming the global counterfeit market king.
Kim Da-mi and Son Suk-ku will lead the mystery-thriller Nine Puzzles, which will tell the tale of the sole survivor of an unsolved case from ten years ago and a detective who continues to suspect her as they uncover the details of a serial murder case that starts with an enigmatic puzzle piece. On the other hand, Low Life, starring Ryu Seung-ryong, Yang Se-jong, Im Soo-jung, and more, revolves around the lives of honest villains who attempt to use a treasure ship hidden in the ocean to make a lot of money.
Meanwhile, Jun Ji-Hyun and Kang Dong-won will star in Tempest, a romantic spy drama. Disney+’s original series, Made in Korea, features a star-studded cast of Hyun Bin, Won Ji-an, Seo Eun-soo, Cho Yeojeong and Jung Sung Il. The story will tell the tale of a prosecutor who gives his all to stop Baek Ki-tae, a man motivated by ambition for wealth and power, as they deal with a significant incident during the unstable 1970s.
