Samantha Ruth Prabhu made a stylish statement at the trailer launch of Citadel: Honey Bunny in Mumbai. Flanked by lead actor Varun Dhawan, directors Raj and DK and the cast, the actress addressed the media at the big event.
Talking about how the series breaks the norm of a man taking centre stage in a spy film, she opened up on why she chose the series. Samantha said, “From time immemorial, we are just used to – if there’s a spy series or a film, it’s always a male character at the center, doing all the cool action, saying all the cool dialogues, and also saving the day, mostly. So I, think that what sets this apart is the fact that I get to do some action. And it’s fantastic. So I think that finally, with the series Citadel, to be part of such an internationally-connected spy world, connected stories with people like Priyanka Chopra and Matilda De Angelis and doing some of the heavy lifting ourselves, it’s just an amazing way to represent, finally, women of society.”
Talking about the future of women in cinema, Samantha Ruth Prabhu said that she would like for them to get equal opportunities. She went on to add, “Like an equal-playing field, where intelligence, talent, strength decides your fate and respectable gender. I think that would be an amazing place to add. And I’m also very happy to be part of this world where that has already started to take center stage. And also just the opportunity to work with talent from across the world. It’s already, the platform has already just become so much wider. The opportunities, everything seems like the future seems bright for everyone.”
Earlier, the teaser of Citadel: Honey Bunny was released by the makers promising a thriller espionage series. Varun and Samantha are shown in the clip performing hardcore action sequences. Samantha is seen with two pistols, preparing to engage in a fight with two opponents in a scene. She also appears in a fight sequence with Varun.
