Saif Ali Khan’s latest appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show season 2 came with a truckload of heartfelt revelations and a dose of laughter. Joined by Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor to promote their action-drama film, Devara, he reflected on the reason behind his decision to choose acting and not cricket to pursue his career. It all started during a segment wherein the host of the show, Kapil Sharma asked Saif Ali Khan, “Sir, you had two options. You could have become a great cricketer like your father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. Your mother is a legendary actress. So, did Sharmila ji see you play cricket? Was acting always your first love?”
Replying to his question, the actor said, “People often said that I inherited my cricketing ability from my mother, meaning it might be a genetic trait. From the Tagore family.” Explaining further, Saif Ali Khan said that he did not have the mental focus required for a sport like cricket when he was young. Adding that it did not go well with him mentally, Saif expressed his love for acting saying that he loves the profession and believes that it was the right choice.
When asked whether his son Ibrahim Ali Khan seeks his suggestions about career and the industry, Saif Ali Khan responded that he is yet to make his Bollywood debut and does not often ask for help. However, he noted that his daughter and actress Sara Ali Khan would often ask for feedback. He said, “She frequently approaches me with scenes and requests that I read them with her and provide some input. But maybe in the future, I will do the same with Ibrahim.”
Meanwhile, Koratala Siva is winning hearts with his role of an antagonist in the recently released Devara. Upon hitting the theatres on September 27, the Jr NTR and Jahnvi Kapoor starrer has been garnering thunderous response from the audience. The film marks Saif Ali Khan’s Telugu debut.
Next, Saif Ali Khan is expected to play a villainous role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film, Spirit. Kareena Kapoor will also reportedly join him to play the negative role, marking their sixth project together. Previously, they have been seen together in films like LOC Kargil, Omkara, Tashan, Kurbaan and Agent Vinod.
