PadMan Trailer: Akshay Kumar as 'Pagla Superhero' is Set To Break All Stereotypes
Directed by R Balki, the film aims at starting a discussion on women mensuration hygiene, a topic still considered taboo in many parts of the country.

After a long wait, the first trailer of Akshay Kumar-starrer PadMan is finally out and it looks spectacular. Directed by R Balki, the film aims at starting a discussion on women mensuration hygiene, a topic still considered taboo in many parts of the country.

The two-minutes 22 seconds long trailer shows Lakshmikanth Chauhan's (played by Akshay) inspirational journey of finding a way to make cheap, affordable sanitary napkins for women in his village. It's his dedication and honesty towards his initiative that takes him to the UN headquarters, where he delivers a motivational speech on menstrual hygiene. However, his wife (played by Radhika Apte) seems to be uncomfortable with his work. Reason? He gifts sanitary napkins to girls.

But the highlight of the trailer is megastar Amitabh Bachchan's voiceover, that introduces India's first-ever superhero PadMan. Sonam Kapoor in the role of a teacher named Rhea is a saviour for Lakshmikanth.

The film is inspired by the life of Coimbatore-based social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham and is scheduled to release on Republic Day 2018.
