Today, let us take a look at an actor whose late father was a superstar, and he ruled the decade of the 1970s. Sadly, his son couldn’t achieve that much stardom despite being talented. He is none other than Vinod Khanna’s son, Akshaye Khanna. The actor started his acting journey at the age of 22. At the beginning of his career, he worked in many hit films. But time took such a turn that he stayed away from the acting world for five years. But the actor never lost hope. As per reports, there was a time when Akshaye Khanna took a break from his acting career after 2012. Now, sharing about the reason behind his long break the actor said in a recent media interaction. “I do not want to remember the period when I took a break. I am not one of those who sits at home; I like to work, but sometimes time tests you. You do not get the work that you want to do. It was the reason why I stayed away from acting from 2012 to 2016.”
He also further added that he cannot do anything other than act. He does not even say that he is a very good actor, but he cannot do any other work apart from acting.
Talking about his career journey, Akshaye Khanna started his acting career along with his father, Vinod Khanna, in his 1997 film Himalaya Putra. The film was directed by Pankaj Parashar and starred Vinod Khanna and Hema Malini in the lead roles. In this film, Akshaye Khanna was the second lead, along with Anjala Zaveri. The movie was released with a mixed reception and flopped badly at the box office. Even though Himalaya Putra didn’t receive much success, Akshaye received immense appreciation for his outstanding performance.
Although the actor had a bad beginning, later Akshaye was seen in JP Dutta’s war drama Border (1997) which brought him to the limelight. After Border, he appeared in several successful films, including Taal (1999), Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Humraaz (2002), Hungama (2003), Hulchul (2004) and Race (2008), to name a few.
He was last seen in the 2022 film Drishyam 2.
