Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer horror comedy film Stree 2 has been creating a storm at the box office. The film has already crossed Rs 100 crore mark. Fans are loving it and celebrities are also sharing positive reviews. Hansal Mehta also joined the trend and dropped a praise note for the film. Rajkummar Rao has reacted to it.
Sharing the poster of the film on his Instagram stories, Hansal Mehta praised and wrote, “What a riot! What a scre-fest! what a gag-fest! Funny, irrelevant and massive entertainment in this new instalment. @amakaushik @nirenbhat have created a monster entertainer, a worthy successor to what @rajanddk began, meant to be enjoyed with family. Performances are top class. Particularly @rajkummar_rao who surrenders to the material and madcap world. @nowitsabhi is too good. In great form are @pankajtripathi @aparshakti_khurrana, @shraddhakapoor is stardom personified. Maynot be as sharp as in its messaging as the first instalment but there is so much to admire, so much to enjoy. No wonder its blazing at the box office. The Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer enjoyed a four-day extended weekend courtesy of the Independence Day weekend. The film clashed with Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa, only to emerge as the top choice among audiences. As a result, Stree 2 has collected over Rs 204 Cr in its opening weekend.
According to trade expert Taran Adarsh, Stree 2 collected Rs 58.20 Cr on Sunday. This is higher than the film’s opening day collection. The collection has resulted in Stree 2 entering the Rs 200 Cr club. Taking to X, the trade analyst said, “Call it a STORM or a TSUNAMI or a TYPHOON… #Stree2 records a SENSATIONAL extended weekend… The two major #Hindi films that released alongside it [#KhelKhelMein, #Vedaa] were severely impacted by the #Stree2 wave. #Stree2 has hit a DOUBLE CENTURY [₹ 200 cr NBOC] in just *4 days*, a feat accomplished by only a select few #Hindi biggies in the past… A HISTORIC feat for a mid-sized film.”
As the trailer hinted, Stree 2 revolves around a new demon terrorising Chanderi. This time, a headless monster is kidnapping women in the dead of night, prompting the return of Stree. Chanderi is once again in peril, and Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) and his friends—played by Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana—are on a mission to save the village. They are joined by the mysterious “Girl With No Name” (Shraddha Kapoor), who warns them that they have only a few days to defeat the demon, or else all will be lost.
