In the last few years, the cinephiles have largely shifted to streaming platforms to experience new releases. These OTT platforms boast of decent to critically acclaimed collections available to stream anywhere, anytime. If you are craving a good regional rom-com, then you must choose the latest Tamil release Pon Ondru Kanden.

Pon Ondru Kanden was directly released on the streaming platform JioCinema, on April 14, this year. The romantic-comedy revolves around the lives of three people, involved in a love triangle. The female lead Sandy, a chef, is unable to shake off the attraction with her gynaecologist ex-husband Siva, as she is beginning to develop feelings for Sai, Siva’s former school rival. As Sandy falls in love with both, the viewers get to enjoy the journey of the three leads and who she would end up choosing.

The role of Sandy is portrayed by Aishwarya Lekshmi, who is seen sharing the screen space with Ashok Selvan playing Siva and Vasanth Ravi as Sai.

Pon Ondru Kanden is directed as well as written by V Priya, who has also co-written the screenplay with Reema Ravichander. The rest of the cast includes Sachu, Deepa Shankar and Mathew Varghese, among others. It is produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Yuvan Shankar Raja under the banners of Jio Studios and YSR Films. The music in the film was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja as well. AT Bagath handled the cinematography while Sathish Suriya did the editing. The film is available to stream on JioCinema.

As per some earlier reports, the film was initially scheduled to release in theatres but for unknown reasons, makers could not go forth with the plans. It was then simultaneously released on JioCinema and Colours Tamil on the occasion of Puthandu, the Tamil New Year, which happens to be on April 14.

The film’s director V Priya is known for works like Anantham, Aadi Lakshmi Puraana, Herova? Zerova? and more. She made her directorial debut in 2005, with the Tamil film Kanda Naal Mudhal.
