Emphasising the importance of dedicated work without fixation on outcomes, the legendary actor believes that those who invest their best efforts will inevitably achieve success.
Amitabh Bachchan embarked on his acting journey with an initial setback, facing a film that did not fare well at the box office. In a moment of uncertainty, he contemplated leaving acting behind. However, destiny had other plans, propelling him not only to establish himself in the industry but also to create a distinctive identity.
The seasoned actor revealed that he has never fixated on the box office performance of his films, underscoring the significance of unwavering commitment to one’s craft. Bachchan reaffirmed his approach, highlighting his tendency to overlook the financial outcomes of his movies. These reflections were prompted by his 1988 film Shahenshah, particularly noting its historic booking in a recent blog post.
Recalling his experiences, Amitabh Bachchan shared insights into the success of Shehenshah, stating, “The film had a historic booking, an unparalleled achievement in Hindi film history. All theatre tickets were sold out by February 1, 1988, two weeks before the film’s release!!” The actor expressed surprise at this revelation, confessing, “Oh my God, glad to read this information… I have to admit that I never knew about this… and to be honest, I had never paid attention to such conversations.”
Amitabh Bachchan made his film debut as a voice narrator in Mrinal Sen’s acclaimed film, Bhuvan Shome, which earned a National Award. His initial acting role materialised in the film Saat Hindustani, where he portrayed one of the seven protagonists, directed by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. His breakthrough success came with the 1973 release Zanjeer.
