Actors Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala got engaged on August 8 in a private ceremony attended by their families. Curious about their age difference? Naga Chaitanya, born on November 23, 1986, to Nagarjuna Akkineni and his first wife Lakshmi Daggubati, is about to turn 38. Sobhita Dhulipala, born on May 31, 1992, is 32 years old, making the age gap between them 6 years. The couple, who had been rumoured to be dating for a while, made their relationship official with their engagement announcement.
The engagement, rooted in traditional Telugu customs, was held at Chaitanya’s residence in Hyderabad and began with a ceremonial pooja. Besides his parents, stepmother Amala Akkineni, brother Akhil Akkineni, and Sobhita’s family were present. Nagarjuna officially announced the engagement on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
Interestingly, this will be Naga Chaitanya’s second marriage. The actor was previously married to actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, whom he dated before their wedding. They tied the knot in 2017 and were together for 4 years. However, the couple decided to part ways in 2021, ultimately ending their marriage in divorce. The marriage reportedly ended on a bitter note with Samantha Ruth Prabhu even going on to say on Koffee With Karan that the situation between them was so amicable that if they were put in a room together, all sharp objects had to be hidden. Starting in 2022, rumours began circulating that Chaitanya was dating Sobhita Dhulipala after they were spotted together in Hyderabad. The two were later seen together in various other locations as well.
On the professional front, Naga Chaitanya is currently working on his film Thandel, directed by Chandoo Mondeti. The movie is set against the backdrop of Srikakulam and features Chaitanya portraying a character from the fishermen’s community. He has undergone intense training to prepare for this role. This film also marks Chaitanya’s second collaboration with actress Sai Pallavi. The duo previously shared the screen in Sekhar Kammula’s Love Story, where their chemistry was highly praised.
