South Korean singer and songwriter Kim Yoon-ah, the lead singer of the modern rock group Jaurim, has stirred controversy among her fans. In a recent interview on the YouTube show Don’t Forget Your Breakfast 2, hosted by Jang Sung-kyu, Kim shared details about the production team behind the popular tvN K-Drama Twenty-Five, Twenty-One. The drama starred Nam Joo-hyuk, Kim Ji-yeon and Choi Hyun-wook in lead roles.
The conversation between the duo touched on all topics, from the singer’s personal life, family, upcoming projects, experiences and more. However, while in conversation, one specific moment turned out to grab the limelight when the host asked Kim about the relationship between the 2022 K-drama Twenty-Five, Twenty-One and her superhit song by the same title.
“You have many hit songs. ‘Twenty Five Twenty One’ became a drama. How’d that all come about?" Jang asked.
During the conversation, Kim inquired whether he had raised this matter with or without understanding its background. She then revealed that she had not been informed about it beforehand, expressing surprise that Twenty-Five Twenty-One had been adapted into a drama series without her prior knowledge.
“It would have been nice if they asked beforehand. But they held the production presentation, then they emailed me, apologising for not asking in advance," Kim told the host.
Adding on to it further, she said that the matter had already become complicated by the time the production team of the drama tried to contact her. However, the production was eventually greenlit and the series’ producers had paid her a little more than the standard rate she had set for letting creators use her songs in K-dramas, she informed.

It has already been over two years now since the release of the first season of Twenty-Five, Twenty-One. Despite that, this revelation from the legendary singer has prompted some strong reactions from social media users. While some fans are upset over the lack of manners from the show’s production team, others feel that they should move on from the incident as Kim herself seems to have, reports Koreaboo.
Twenty-Five, Twenty-One is one of the biggest hits of the Jaurim band from the 2010s. The song was featured in the drama directed by Jung Ji-hyun.
