Imran Khan Breaks Silence On Why He Quit Bollywood, Says ‘It Was Kind Of A…’

Imran Khan, who rose to fame from his debut film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, has been missing from the screen for a long time. He was last seen in Katti Batti with Kangana Ranaut. However, the romantic drama did not work well and since then the actor has not starred in any film. Well, recently in a conversation with Film Companion, Imran Khan opened up on the same. He did accept that Katti Batti played a role in his decision.

As mentioned by The Indian Express, he explained to Film Companion that in the film industry, there’s an entire ecosystem surrounding actors, including publicity, PR, and management. Everyone in this environment tends to focus solely on monetary aspects—how much one earns from films, endorsements, appearances, and even minor events like ribbon-cutting ceremonies. He said that over time, this monetary perspective becomes the primary measure of success. Despite being part of this environment, he realized that his love for films wasn’t driven by money.

When asked if the failure of Katti Batti triggered his step down, the actor said, “Yes. At that moment I didn’t consider it in that way and I never said, ‘Okay, on this day, I’m done, I quit.’ It was kind of a process of a week becoming a month, a month becoming three and becoming a year, and a year becoming two where I said, ‘Okay, I won’t do this because my heart’s not in it.’

Imran’s performance in the critically acclaimed Hindi black comedy, Delhi Belly was loved by everyone. In the same year, he was seen in the movie Mere Brother Ki Dulhan with Ali Zafar and Katrina Kaif. The movie was a hit at the box office. It was written and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.

Last year, Imran mentioned that he is reading scripts. Instant Bollywood quoted Imran Khan saying, “I don’t have a clear answer, but I am reading scripts and having creative conversation with filmmakers. So, hopefully, next year.”  

Recently, news came in that Imran Khan and Imran Khan and his rumored girlfriend Lekha Washington have rented an apartment together from filmmaker Karan Johar.
