IBNLive Movie Awards: 'Filmistaan' director Nitin Kakkar voted as the Best Debut by a director
It was the small film with a big heart 'Filmistaan' which managed to win the hearts of the readers.

We are finally out with the list of winners for this year's IBNLive Movie Awards. Our readers voted for their favourites in different categories, while some of their choices were predictable, there were the others who had a surprise win. Here we recognise the true talents from the industry and felicitate them.

The nominees in the Best Debut Director category were only three- Abhishek Verman for '2 States', Nitin Kakkar for 'Filmistaan' and Omung Kumar for 'Mary Kom'. While Kumar and Verman got a dream launch pad with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Karan Johar backing them respectively, it was the small film with a big heart 'Filmistaan' which managed to win the hearts of the readers.

Nitin Kakkar, the director of 'Filmistaan' was chosen as the winner of this category and earned 59% of the votes. The film which spoke about India and Pakistan's common love for Bollywood took time to get a commercial release as it did not star any established star but the film's story and performances by lead actors like Sharib Hashmi and Inaamulhaq fetched the film rave reviews.

Abhishek Verman was a far second with only 24.6% votes and Omung Kumar got barely 13 percent votes. Looks like for our readers content comes before star power.
