Sanjay Leela Bhansali ventured into the OTT space with his highly-anticipated web series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. One unexpected outcome of the show was the spotlight cast on his niece, Sharmin Segal, who plays Alamzeb in the gilded series. Sharmin Segal was put on the chopping block for her “expressionless” acting and “monotone” delivery. Now, netizens are curious to know how much Sharmin was paid for her role.
As per reports by Money Control and Prestige, Sharmin Segal was paid approximately Rs 35 lakhs for her role as Alamzeb in Heeramandi. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s niece Sharmin’s fee was the lowest amongst the main cast.
It was earlier reported that according to Miss Malini, Sonakshi Sinha emerged as the highest-paid actress in the series. She was paid Rs 2 crore for her double role. Filmibeat reported that Manisha Koirala was paid Rs 1 crore, Aditi Rao Hydari earned between Rs 1 to 1.5 crores, Richa Chadha was paid Rs 1 crore whereas Sanjeeda Sheikh earned Rs 40 lakhs. If a Bollywood Hungama report from 2022 is to be believed, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has been made with a budget of a whopping Rs 200 crores.
While Sharmin may be the least-paid actress among the cast, she has also become the one who received the highest critique. Netizens were so upset by her performance that they started trolling her and she had to turn off the comments on her social media posts. Several Heeramandi cast mates like Shekhar Suman and Shruti Sharma then jumped to defend her.
However, recently, the actress has been grabbing headlines for a different reason. Netizens are now interested to know about her husband, Aman Mehta, and the billion-dollar conglomerate he will inherit. Aman Mehta is the Executive Director for Torrent Pharmaceuticals, a division of the Torrent Group. The multinational business is run by Aman’s father, Sudhir Mehta and uncle Samir Mehta as co-chairpersons.
Aman Mehta is the heir to a billion-dollar empire. As per Bloomberg’s Index for 2024, Aman Mehta’s father, Samir Mehta has a whopping net worth of $6.44 billion (Rs 53,800 crore). As per reports, Samir and Aman majorly overlook the pharmaceutical division of the company. According to a Forbes report, Torrent Pharma’s revenue alone was $4.6 billion (approximately Rs 38,412 crore).
In November 2023, Aman tied the knot with Sharmin and their wedding reception was attended by several Bollywood actors, including Heeramandi’s cast. Sharmin is the daughter of Depak Segal and Bela Segal. Bela is the younger sister of Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
