Actor Gurucharan Singh, renowned for his portrayal of Roshan Singh Sodhi in the popular comedy show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has opened up on his debt and struggles. The actor caused concern among fans after his sudden disappearance earlier this year. In April, Gurucharan was reported missing, but he returned to his Delhi residence after 26 days and said that he had disappeared to pursue a religious path.
During a chat with Siddharth Kannan, Gurucharan shared that he is looking for work. He feels people love him and want to see him, and he needs to earn money to cover his expenses, support his mother, and pay off his debts. “I have been in Mumbai for a month looking for work. I think people love me and they want to see me. I also want to earn money to manage my expenses, take care of my mother and pay off my debts. I want to get some good work and start my second innings. I need money because I have EMI and credit card payments. I still have to ask for money and there are some good people who lend me money but my debut is accumulating. I want to work because I also want to take care of my old parents,” he said.
Gurucharan also shared that he’s been on a liquid diet for over a month. He said, “I have left food for the past 34 days. I have been on a liquid diet like I have milk, chai and coconut water. I have seen only failure for the last four years. I have tried to do different things, businesses and all but everything is failing. Now, I am tired and now I should get some earnings,” he said.
Gurucharan revealed that he owes Rs 60 lakh to banks and credit card companies, and another Rs 60 lakh to individuals who have lent him money. “I have significant debt. I owe Rs 60 lakh to banks and credit card companies. Additionally, some kind people I know have lent me money, and I owe them an equal amount. In total, my debt amounts to nearly Rs 1.2 crore,” he said.
