An FIR has been registered against Bhushan Kumar, the Managing Director of T-Series, at Mumbai’s D N Nagar police station after a woman claimed that she was allegedly raped by Kumar on the pretext of giving her a job in one of his upcoming projects. However, Bhushan Kumar has denied the allegations in an official statement issued by T-Series.
Speaking to CNN-NEWS18, sources from Mumbai Police confirmed the development. “A case of rape under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). We are still investigating the matter,” said a senior police officer on condition of anonymity. The case has been registered at D N Nagar Police Station in Mumbai. No arrests have been made yet. According to the investigating officers, the victim is a 30-year-old woman.
However, Kumar’s team has called the complaint “completely false” and “malicious.” “It has been falsely alleged that the lady in question was sexually exploited between 2017 to 2020 on the pretext of giving her work. It is a matter of record that she has already worked for T-Series banner in Film and music videos. Around March 2021 she approached Mr. Bhushan Kumar seeking help to fund one of the web series which she wanted to produce, which was politely refused. Thereafter, In June 2021 after the lifting of lockdown in Maharashtra, she started approaching the T-Series banner in collusion with her accomplice demanding a huge sum of money as an extortion amount,” the statement from T-Series read.
“Consequently, a complaint was filed by T-Series banner against the attempted extortion with police at Amboli police station on 1st July 2021. We also have evidence in the form of audio recording for the extortion attempt and the same shall be provided to investigating agency. The present complaint filed by her is nothing but a counterblast to the complaint filed against her and her accomplice for the offence of extortion. We are in the process of consulting our lawyers in this regard and will take appropriate legal action,” the statement further added.
Bhushan Kumar is known for his work in the Hindi film industry. He took control of the music company T-Series in 1997 when he was 19 after the murder of his father, Gulshan Kumar.
