Kannada actor Daali Dhananjaya-starrer Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, directed by TS Nagabharana, has become embroiled in disputes even before its release. Producer Dr Kiran Thotambyle chimed in and claimed that he has exclusive rights to make a film on ruler Nadaprabhu Hiriya Kempegowda with the title Dharmabheeru Nadaprabhu Kempegowda. Now, the judgment regarding the title has been announced in Dr Kiran’s favour. He has shed light on this matter in an interview with the News 18-Kannada Digital. Dr Kiran confirmed that the film’s title has been in controversy for the last two months. According to him, Nagabharana had taken a legal recourse in this matter claiming his stake in the film’s title. Kiran, also a music director by profession, said that there was a stay-on Dharmabheeru Nadaprabhu Kempegowda but now it has been removed.
Kiran further talked about the complications he and his team had to face due to the legal recourse taken by the director Nagabharana. According to the producer and music director, the production rights holders of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda had filed a lawsuit with the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce. These rights holders included TS Nagabharana and producers Dr MN Shivaprasad and Rahul Gundala. Kiran said that the lawsuit filed in the Karnataka Film Chamber does not always help in claiming ownership rights on the film’s title.
Film muhurat
Dr Kiran’s film Dharmabheeru Nadaprabhu Kempegowda went on floors at the Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple near Basavangudi. Dr Kiran and the film’s director, Dinesh Babu, were present at the muhurat shot. Besides being the producer, the I Love You music director will also score music for Dharmabheeru Nadaprabhu Kempegowda.

According to the reports, Dr Kiran has approached the popular Kannada actor Upendra for playing the lead role in his film. Nothing has been officially confirmed regarding these reports. There is no news regarding the other cast members of Dharmabheeru Nadaprabhu Kempegowda.
TS Nagabharana is yet to react to the recent updates in the legal title dispute between him and Dr Kiran. Nagabharana’s film Nadaprabhu Kempegowda remains in production as of now.
