English singer Charli XCX has been riding high since getting engaged to her longtime love, George Daniel, the drummer from The 1975, last November. While they’ve been engaged for nearly a year, both are taking their sweet time planning a dream wedding. In a recent chat on Howard Stern’s show, the 32-year-old singer spilled the beans about her engagement, revealing the story behind her two rings.
When the show’s host spotted Charli’s stack of two rings, he couldn’t resist asking if she had secretly tied the knot with her fiance, playfully hinting he was on the lookout for an exclusive on her marriage to the drummer. The ‘365’ singer quickly set the record straight, clarifying that it wasn’t her wedding band. She said, “I didn’t get (my engagement ring) resized, so I have to put a ring on top of it so it doesn’t fall off."
Further, Howard Stern questioned if Charli XCX and George had already planned their wedding. Answering the question, the singer mentioned, “We’re kinda, like, planning it slowly." She continued, “We’re both very chill, and we want to just have a party, is our vibe. Neither of us are particularly formal about marriage, I guess, or care about the formalities of the ceremony or whatever. We just want to be together forever and have a party with our friends."
Charli and George first met in 2019 during an awards ceremony. In 2021, the duo collaborated for the first time on the single ‘Spinning.’ A year later, Charli confirmed her relationship with the drummer through an Instagram post. Since then, the couple has continued their musical collaboration and romantic relationship. In November 2023, the two decided to take their relationship to the next level by getting engaged.
Charli, who has been on the Sweat tour with Troye Sivan, took to her Instagram account on Friday to share that her chartbuster album, Brat, is getting another life. The singer’s team had put up neon green billboards with mirrored texts across the globe to announce the collaborators for her “completely different but also still brat" remix album, which is scheduled to be released on October 11.
Ariana Grande, Tinashe, The 1975, Bon Iver, BB Trickz, the Japanese House, Julian Casablancas, Bladee, Caroline Polachek, and Jon Hopkins are among the artists revealed for her remix album. Charli has yet to disclose which singer will appear in which song.
