Thalapathy Vijay’s last film, tentatively titled Thalapathy 69, has been creating buzz for a long time. Viewers are eagerly waiting for the new update of the much-anticipated film. A recent report has suggested that Thalapathy Vijay has been joined by Bollywood actor Bobby Deol in the last film of his career before he indulges himself entirely in politics.
A recent report suggested that Bobby has been finalised to play the main villain in Vijay’s yet-to-be-titled film. There’s no confirmation about the same yet. The actor’s popularity in the South has certainly been hyped after his performance in Kanguva. The film has not been released yet, but Bobby’s fearsome avatar as a tribal leader in Suriya’s film has won the hearts of the audience.
Apart from Vijay and Bobby Deol, the film is said to star Pooja Hegde, Mohanlal, Mamitha Baiju, and Jisshu Sengupta in the other pivotal roles.
The film is produced by KVN Productions and co-produced by Jagadish Palanisamy and Lohith N.K. The music and background score for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander in his fifth collaboration with Vijay after Kaththi (2014), Master (2021), Beast (2022), Leo (2023) and his maiden collaboration with H. Vinoth. Thalapathy 69 is scheduled to be released worldwide in October 2025.
Meanwhile, Vijay was recently seen in The Greatest of All Time. This action film is directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by AGS Entertainment. The film stars Vijay in dual roles, alongside Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Mohan, Ajmal Ameer, Jayaram, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Vaibhav, Yogi Babu, Premgi Amaren, Yugendran and VTV Ganesh.
The film was made on a budget of Rs 380–400 crore; it is said to be AGS’ most expensive film and one of the most expensive Indian films.
The Greatest of All Time was released worldwide on 5 September in standard and IMAX formats and opened to mixed reviews from critics, who praised Vijay’s performance, action sequences and climax while the lack of character development and writing received criticism. The film has set several box office records for a Tamil film, emerging as the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2024 and the third-highest-grossing Indian film of 2024.
