Ranvir Shorey surprised everyone when he appeared in Anil Kapoor’s Bigg Boss OTT 3 as a contestant. Ranvir has rejected the show multiple times but finally gave in. However, Ranvir had previously said that he would go to Bigg Boss only “when I think I want to die”.
In 2015, Ranvir humorously quipped in an interview with Smitha Verma saying, “I will go to Bigg Boss when I think I want to die. Every year they call me and every year I ask them to call me next year. Luckily, every year I get some work to sail through the year”
Indeed, Ranvir had successfully dodged the persistent invitations to join the Bigg Boss house, but life, as they say, is full of surprises. This year, fans were astonished to see Ranvir Shorey entering the Bigg Boss OTT 3 house as a contestant, a twist no one saw coming.
In a recent episode, Ranvir addressed his long-standing joke. “I guess it’s true what they say—never say never. Here I am, not because I have no work but because life has an interesting way of shaking things up. Sometimes, you just have to embrace the unexpected.”
Speaking to The Indian Express, Ranvir explained why he joined Bigg Boss OTT 3, saying he gets offered the show every year but couldn’t join before. This year, with his son in the US for summer vacation and no major work commitments, he felt it was the right time. “Actually, I get a call from Bigg Boss every year, but due to some reasons, I was unable to participate. But this year my son is going to the US to spend his summer vacations and I had no major work. The second reason I think is I badly needed a detox from screens. This year everything clicked and fell into place. My family and friends understood my reasons for doing it at that moment and also that I’m old enough to own up to decisions and consequences. ”
Ranvir talked about how he plans to manage in the Bigg Boss house and whether he has the right personality for it. He said, “I am not the coolest person, I tend to lose my calm over small issues. So this is going to be a challenge for me. But I’m not going under any pressure. Also, limited food is going to be a challenge. But I’m hoping they’ll give us sufficient food that’s needed to survive. I’m sure they’re not calling us to starve. But I am going to keep telling myself, you’re just going to be here for a month or so, so chill. My strategy is to keep myself busy. Doing household chores, doing exercises, and healing my body.”
