Bang Si Hyuk has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. It all started due to his feud with ADOR. In the middle of this, Bang Si Hyuk made a surprise appearance at Weverse Con alongside JYP Entertainment’s founder, JY Park. While JY entertained the audience with his energetic performance alongside various idols, including SEVENTEEN’s Woozi, Baekho, Fromis 9 star Jiwon, ENHYPEN’s Jay and TXT’s Beomgyum, it was his collaboration with Bang Si Hyuk that garnered maximum attention. Bang Si Hyuk was seen playing guitar while Park sang his classic, I have a girlfriend. However, a video from the event has gone viral on X, showing some attendees booing Bang Si Hyuk’s performance.

The clip opens to Bang Si Hyuk performing on stage. A few second later, a fan showed a thumbs down and booed him. Soon, others joined in. People have also criticised the HYBE CEO at the Inspire Arena in Incheon.

Reportedly, during the performances, JY Park explained this was the first time in 22 years he has shared the stage with Bang Si Hyuk.

Bang Si Hyuk, who used to be a composer at JYP Entertainment, joined JY Park on stage at the Weverse Con. The two performed their renowned GOD song Lie, which they wrote together 25 years ago, along with other songs.

Other than Bang Si Hyuk’s surprise performance, Weverse Con 2024 faced criticism for various other reasons, including safety concerns and the appearance of controversial singer YOASOBI. Despite purchasing expensive tickets, fans were left confused ever since they entered the venue, as premium ticket holders and general ticket holders rushed together. Reportedly, fences had fallen, while few people were heard screaming. On the other hand, YOASOBI, who debuted in 2019, performance was criticised over the romanticization of Japanese colonialism.

Meanwhile, Illit, Boynextdoor, TWS, Thenewsix, Le Sserafim, The New Six and Tomorrow X Together also performed at the Weverse Con 2024.
