At the recently held SAG Awards, The Devil Wears Prada stars Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Meryl Streep reunited on stage to present the award for male actor in a comedy series. While the trio assembled together, the stars paid a nod to their 2006 hit film too.
While Streep was walking on stage, she accidentally hit the microphone. She then joked and said,
“Two things: I forgot my glasses, clearly, and the envelope,” before her former co-stars arrived. Streep then added, “It’s an age-old question—where does the character end and the actor begin?.” Blunt then responded, “As we’ve just seen, Meryl and [her Devil Wears Prada character Miranda Priestly] are sort of like twins, right?” Hathaway was quick enough to add, “No, no, that wasn’t a question.”.
Blunt then continued to tease while Meryl opened the envelope. She then added, “By all means, move at a glacial pace. You know that thrills me,” referring to another iconic line of Streep’s from the film.
The stars reunited almost 18 years later on stage. The Devil Wears Prada brought Meryl Streep a SAG Award nomination and an Oscar nomination for her role as Runway magazine editor Miranda Priestly.
For all The Devil Wears Prada fans out there, it is truly hard to imagine anyone other than Meryl Streep essaying the iconic role of Miranda Priestly. Even though David Frankel’s directorial was released in 2006, the veteran Hollywood star playing the bossy fashion magazine editor will be remembered by generations to come.
Apart from Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Anne Hathaway, The Devil Wears Prada featured Stanley Tucci, Adrian Grenier, and Simon Baker in prominent roles.
Coming back to the SAG Awards, the ceremony took place in Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall.
