From Chidambaram’s Manjummel Boys to Aavesham starring Fahadh Faasil, there are several OTT Malayalam films to binge-watch this Friday. Check out the complete list of all the recently released films that will keep you hooked to your couch all day long.
Abraham Ozler
Jayaram plays Abraham Ozler, who’s looking into a bunch of hospital deaths while dealing with his issues. The story plays out like a classic murder mystery, with clues scattered around the crime scenes. Director Midhun throws in a surprising twist at the end, and Mammootty makes a cameo appearance. The other actors, like Jayaram, also did a great job. You can watch this crime, mystery, and thriller movie on Disney Plus Hotstar.
Anweshippin Kandethum
Anweshippin Kandethum explores two different crimes and their investigations in Kerala, taking place in the late 80s and early 90s. The film focuses on the mysterious deaths of 20-year-old women. Unlike typical detective movies, it concentrates solely on the investigations, which keeps it engaging. The suspense and mystery in the film are similar to those in Drishyam. However, some viewers may find it hard to connect emotionally with Tovino Thomas’s character, who lacks personal relationships such as a girlfriend, wife, or children. You can stream it on Netflix.
Bramayugam
Bramayugam takes you back in time, telling the story of Thevan, a young folk singer whose life connects with the mysterious mansion of Kunjamon Potti. Mammootty’s performance as Potti is outstanding, keeping you hooked. The first half of the movie might feel slow, and the lack of jump scares could disappoint some viewers. However, if you’re a fan of horror thrillers, you’ll likely enjoy it. The movie is streaming on Sony Liv.
Manjummel Boys
Written and directed by Chidambaram S Poduval, the film is based on a true incident from 2006. The film stars Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, and Balu Varghese in the leading roles. It is among the highest-grossing Malayalam films of all time. The plot follows a group of friends from an art club in Kochi. They took a trip to Kodaikanal in 2006. Unfortunately, one of them falls into a deep pit at Guna Caves. You can catch this thrilling adventure on Disney Plus Hotstar.
Aavesham
The highly anticipated Malayalam film Aavesham, featuring Fahadh Faasil premiered on OTT on May 9. This action-comedy will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, the movie also stars Ashish Vidyarthi, Mansoor Ali Khan, and Sajin Gopu.
