I don't know about you, but when I’m eating out, I make sure to pay adequate attention to the decor as to the delicacies that are served at a restaurant. So while I wait to eat at almost all stylish restaurants across the world, I manage to find a few eating joints in India where I can feast my eyes on both – food and interiors. So when I reached Punjab at Kingdom of Dreams, I knew high design would top the menu. And even before I could have ordered my food, I was convinced that it would a lot more appetizing because it was paired with interesting furniture, comfy finishes, and appealing lighting.
Decor: Even though there are plenty of restaurants offering ‘authentic’ Punjabi fare, there is something special about this eating option. While one section of the restaurant cashes in on the dhaba-style dining with charpais laid out for guests, the other is best for those who prefer fine dining restaurants. But what really bowled me over was its ability to recreate the rustic allure of countryside dhabas – thankfully in a discerning manner.
Food: Punjab’s first winning stroke is the creamy and delicious lassi - it reminds you of what you’d get in Punjab – with yoghurt, water and sugar blended smoothly. Even though I have tried its several piquant flavours, its sweet version remains my favourite. Without wasting time, I move on to choosing from an enticing line up, and begin the meal with the Dal Makhni – which was deeply, really luxurious, - something that’s difficult to say for its multiple versions available across the city.Even though I wanted to skip its Paneer do Pyaza, I gave in to the temptation as it was cooked with care and consideration.
I place my dessert order with some reluctance. For, the food that I had so far was so heavy that I wanted to put a stop. Fortunately, I still managed to try hot jalebi. Sweet enough it gave a perfect end to a unmissable meal.
