Raksha Bandhan 2024: Expert Shares What Sisters Should Do Before Tying The Rakhi
Tying Rakhi during Bhadra is considered inauspicious. On the day of Raksha Bandhan, Bhadra will conclude on August 19 at 1:25 pm.

Raksha Bandhan is a significant festival that honours the bond between brothers and sisters. It is a day characterised by love, joy, and the exchange of gifts. The festival is marked by the sister tying a Rakhi (a decorative thread) around her brother’s wrist. In return, the brother pledges to protect his sister from all harm and provides her with support throughout her life.

Raksha Bandhan is annually celebrated on the day of Sawan Purnima. This year, Sawan Purnima falls on August 19, and the Raksha Bandhan festival will be observed on the same day. However, this time, if sisters take certain measures in addition to tying Rakhi, it can enhance not only the sweetness of the brother-sister relationship but also the happiness and prosperity of the brother.

Pandit Nandkishore Mudgal, a well-known astrologer from Deoghar, informed Local 18 that Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August 19. However, Bhadra will occur on this day, and tying Rakhi during Bhadra is considered inauspicious. Therefore, sisters should wait until Bhadra ends before tying Rakhi to their brother’s wrist.

Bhadra will begin at 2:21 pm on Sunday, August 18, and will conclude the next day on August 19 at 1:25 pm. Therefore, it is advised to tie Rakhi only after 1:25 pm on August 19. In addition to tying Rakhi, there are certain tasks that sisters should perform to positively influence their brothers’ lives. The second solution is that the sister should tie roli, akshat and a coin in a red cloth and give it to her brother as a blessing and the brother should keep that bundle in his safe. This will ensure that the brother will never have to face any financial problems.

On the day of Raksha Bandhan, it is recommended to prepare Panchameva Kheer and serve it to unmarried girls. This practice is believed to enhance happiness and prosperity in the household, eliminate negative energy, and strengthen the bond between brother and sister.
