Goth lips were everywhere on the Fall 2016 catwalks earlier this year -- with Vivienne Westwood, Dior and Rihanna's Fenty x Puma models all sporting a dark, almost black lip. The trend was then brought to the red carpet by Katy Perry, who wore her own Covergirl Katy Kat Matte Lipstick ($7.99) in the black hue Perry Panther to the MET Ball in May. Beauty queen Kylie Jenner made it official a few weeks ago when her brand Kylie Cosmetics unveiled the black liquid lip color 'Dead of Knight' ($29), but if opaque black feels a bit intimidating for summer then you can channel the look with her navy blue hue 'Freedom' ($29).
Fruity
Kylie also unveiled a trio of new lip colors just this week, including a fresh strawberry matte hue called Kristen, launching on July 20. The star isn't the only one getting fruity with her lip color this season -- red lippy aficionado Gwen Stefani has taken to sporting a softer cherry pink hue over the past few months, as her Instagram account testifies. Dolce & Gabbana's new beauty collection 'Summer in Italy' includes a revamp of its Classic Cream Lipstick in the deep raspberry hue Cyclamen, which should hit the spot, while Bourjois's new summer collection includes a Colour Boost Lip Crayon in the fruity shades of Peach on the Beach and Plum Russian.
Glossy
In case you hadn't heard, gloss is undergoing a major revival, and contrary to what you might think, summer is the perfect time to test out the look. Make like supermodel Hailey Baldwin and go for a natural-looking shimmery taupe shade, or sweeten things up with a pink gloss like Blake Lively. Chanel's new line of 'Lèvres Scintillantes' lip glosses ($30) spans fun lilacs to sophisticated nudes and preppy pinks. For the bold, MAC's Good Luck Trolls beauty collection, which launches in August, has revamped your favorite teenage beauty product with a selection of shiny 'Lipglasses' ($16) including the glittery "Bubble Butt" magenta, "Twerkquoise" sky blue and "Glitter Grunge" berry tones.
