While ailments like poor heart health or poor kidney health were earlier associated with the elderly and middle-aged, the diseases are soon catching up with the younger generation as well. When the body does not have enough albumin, the osmotic pressure in the veins decreases and water accumulates in the tissues beneath the skin. Due to this, edema is formed in the legs and feet. It is crucial to know the difference between edema caused by kidney problems and edema caused by any other medical condition.
Symptoms like puffiness around the eyes and puffiness of the face after waking up in the morning can confirm kidney problems. Early detection and prompt treatment can prevent further complications.
Cancer patients, diabetics, hypertensive patients, heart patients, people with liver problems, kidney stones and frequent urinary tract infections should get regular checkups done as they are more vulnerable to developing kidney ailments than others. Urinary filtration rate, creatinine ratio, urinalysis and evaluation of the kidney with ultrasound therapy can confirm kidney damage.
