According to experts, some supplements should not be taken together otherwise the body will not be able to derive any benefit.

Dr Sonia Rawat, Director, Department of Preventive Health and Wellness, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi told News18 that many supplements should not be taken together. There should be a gap of a few hours between these two supplements. Taking some vitamins and minerals at the same time can cause problems in absorbing each other. As a result, the body does not get the right amount of these substances. The right time and way of taking supplements should be checked with the doctor so that no harm occurs.

Avoid taking these 5 supplements at the same time –

Calcium and Iron –

Calcium and iron supplements should not be taken together. Calcium can reduce the absorption of iron. If you need both, take them at different times. Keep a gap of about an hour between calcium and iron.

Magnesium and Iron –

Magnesium is an important mineral for muscles and the nervous system. Iron is important for haemoglobin. Magnesium and iron also affect each other’s absorption. Magnesium can reduce the absorption of iron. In such a situation, you should not take these two substances together.

Vitamin C and Vitamin B12 –

Vitamin C is important for strengthening the immune system, while vitamin B12 is important for the nervous system. Taking these two supplements at the same time should be avoided because high amounts of vitamin C can reduce the absorption of vitamin B12.

Vitamin D and Magnesium –

Vitamin D is necessary for bones and calcium absorption. On the other hand, magnesium also helps maintain healthy bones. However, one should avoid taking vitamin D and magnesium at the same time. These two substances can also affect each other.

Vitamin K and Vitamin E –

Vitamin K is important for blood clotting, while Vitamin E is an antioxidant. Excessive intake of Vitamin E can interfere with the function of Vitamin K, so high intake of both vitamins together should be avoided.
