TWICE’s Hirai Momo and Super Junior’s Kim Heechul left the K-pop world heartbroken after they officially parted ways in 2021. While the couple never disclosed the exact reason for their breakup, they cited busy schedules. Recently, Heechul fans’ were disappointed when the topic of his ex-girlfriend came up on the Korean reality show Knowing Bros.
Guests on the show, including Kim Young Chul, Lee Jeong Eun, Choi Jin Hyuk, and Jung Eunji, were discussing Kim Young Chul’s daily life when Heechul expressed curiosity about living like him. However, it was Kim Young Chul’s comment that sparked controversy. He remarked that he wanted to live like Heechul and jokingly made references to Heechul’s history of dating girl group members, including Momo.
As per Korea Boo, Heechul said, “I am very curious about what it would be like to live as Kim Young Chul. He’s smart and can speak several languages.” Reacting to this, Kim Young Chul added, “I want to live like Heechul. He dates girl group members and kisses them while hanging out with them until 3-4 AM.”
Fans of Momo and Kim Heechul reportedly felt uncomfortable with Knowing Bros for repeatedly bringing up their past relationship. According to Sports Kyunghyang, k-pop fans accused the show’s producers of failing to remove the segment, while others urged Heechul and his friends to refrain from making such jokes in public.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time Heechul mentioned his past relationship with Momo. Earlier, not once but on several occasions since the couple broke up, Heechul spoke about her, leading fans to feel that the Super Junior member should move forward in life.
Kim Heechul made his singing debut in 2005 and has since appeared on several reality shows, including My Little Old Boy and Delicious Rendezvous. He has also hosted shows such as Knowing Bros and Weekly Idol in the past. On the other hand, Momo, who began her career with Twice in 2015, has been their lead dancer.
Heechul and Momo, who started dating in 2020, remained in the public eye for various reasons. The Super Junior star frequently shared pictures with Momo on Instagram and showed his support by attending her group’s concerts.
