Former F.T. ISLAND member Song Seung Hyun recently made headlines on February 15, when he announced his sudden retirement from the entertainment industry. The singer took to Instagram to address fans in a lengthy post, expressing his heartfelt apologies for his prolonged absence and lack of communication since departing from F.T ISLAND and FNC Entertainment, his former label. “Hello, everyone. This is Seung Hyun. I would like to express my sincere apologies to the fans who have patiently awaited my return, as I am not very active on social media, and it has been a while since I left the company,” Song wrote.
“I deeply regret the lack of effective communication and the extended period of silence. I am truly sorry and grateful to those fans who have waited for me,” he added.
In his announcement, Song explained that after thinking for a long time, he has decided to withdraw from the entertainment industry and may even leave South Korea to start a new journey in his life. He shared his struggles in transitioning from music to acting and expressed his desire for a more structured life.
“After much contemplation, I have decided to leave the entertainment industry and possibly leave Korea to start a new chapter in my life. It has been four years since I departed from the team FTISLAND to pursue a career as an actor. The challenges were not only in adapting to new endeavors but also in facing the uncertainties of unpredictable waiting periods and complex interpersonal relationships. While there are no easy tasks or simple relationships in any field, I aim to embrace a healthy and disciplined new life that I can tackle day by day,” Song explained.
The singer ended his message with words of gratitude and well-wishes to hi fans, writing, “I wanted to convey my gratitude to the fans who have been patient and supportive, and I sincerely hope that both you and I can lead healthy and happy lives without physical or emotional distress. Thank you.”

Song Seung Hyun debuted as a member of F.T. ISLAND in 2009, quickly rising to fame as the group expanded its popularity in Japan and Korea. Alongside his role as guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter in F.T. ISLAND, he also pursued acting opportunities starting in 2012. In 2019, Song left F.T. ISLAND to focus on his
acting career and signed with the agency Wooridle Company.
