Yogita Thakre death: Court order on closure report today
The seven-year-old girl was found dead in mysterious circumstances in a car parked in Gadkari's residence.

Nagpur: A Nagpur court on Thursday is likely to give its order on the closure report filed by the Maharashtra Criminal Investigation Department in the Yogita Thakre death case. In May 2009, the body of seven-year-old Yogita was found inside a car parked in the compound of the residence of Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari in Nagpur. Yogita was the daughter of Gadkari's household help and it is alleged that the car belonged to the BJP chief.

Both the CID and the Nagpur Police have described the death of the girl as an accident. But the girl's family has alleged that she was murdered and the police were trying to hush up the matter. Rejecting the report of the state CID seeking closure of the case, a court in Nagpur in December 2012 had ordered a reinvestigation.

Claiming that her daughter was murdered, Yogita's mother Vimal Thakre has said that when she saw her daughter's body "there were fresh wounds all over her and blood was coming out of her mouth". The post mortem report, a copy of which is with CNN IBN, had showed 'smothering' as the cause of death.
