In an empowering initiative, women police personnel at Bihar’s Bagaha are educating women in the villages and also providing them with helpful tips for self-defence. The Bagaha Police have deployed them in the form of women helpline at police stations, so that women who visit any police station in the area do not face any kind of inconvenience.
Located far away from the police headquarters, amid dense forests, the Gobrahia police station gets very few cases registered. Even then, the area is considered very sensitive. Women police personnel of Bihar Police have started a school in the village where girls are being educated in addition to providing them with useful self defence tips.
This initiative run by the women constables of the Bihar Police has received appreciation from the villages. Whenever women constables Prabha Kumari, Soni Kumari and Neelam Kumari posted at Gobarhiya police station get time, they do not step back from inspiring the local girls. Through the Mahila Desk, these women constable are also solving their problems. The Mahila Help Desk has launched several awareness programs about women’s education, health and their rights.
Superintendent of Police Sushant Kumar Saroj said that women officers and constables in various police stations have been instructed to run campaigns to make women and village girls and aware. Women police constables have engaged in this drive with great enthusiasm.
