BANGALORE: A 21-year old woman was crushed to death after a BMTC bus ran over her near Pottery Circle on Tannery Road in Frazer Town traffic police station limits on Tuesday afternoon. Enraged over the incident, the public assaulted the driver and pelted stones at the bus.The deceased Heena Kausar, 21, was a resident of Devara Jeevanahalli. She was married to Mohammed Arafat, a butcher, three years ago and had a two-year-old daughter. According to the police, Heena along with her husband was going to Shivajinagar on a bike. At Pottery Circle, Arafat applied brakes to slow down the vehicle and Heena lost control and fell from the bike. Meanwhile, a BMTC bus coming in the opposite direction ran over her head killing her on the spot. The bus was plying passengers between Shivajinagar and Shyampur.Enraged over the accident, the mob engaged in pelting stones at the BMTC bus and assaulted the driver. However, the police managed to take the driver to their custody and admitted him to a nearby hospital. The window glasses of the bus were smashed in the incident.The police shifted the body of the deceased to Bowring Hospital mortuary. Frazer Town traffic police have registered a case and are investigating.
